Co-Op Networks

For those of you who don’t know, a Co-Op (Short for Co-Operative) Network is a network where users may display other peoples links in exchange for others displaying their link. Some Co-Op networks use “weight” so the more impressions on the pages with ads on get more “weight” and then get displayed more regularly on other peoples site.

What Should I know about Co-Op Networks?
Google doesn’t really appreciate websites using Co-Op Networks for some reason, maybe Google see it as a way of cheating or something? Nobody can get inside the thoughts of Google… Anyway, Co-Op Networks are a really good source of backlinks. Since these are popular, if your site gets traffic and you get a nice weight, you could find yourself getting hundreds, if not thousands of backlinks from this.

Advantages - Disadvantages?
Well I do this on every piece of advice ;)

Advantages

* Loads of backlinks
* More traffic
* Some networks allow banner ads - makes your website more well-known

Disadvantages

* Google may not like you using it
* Although its not that obvious to tell, some people see it as an easy way out from taking time to get backlinks

So then Site SEO Blog, should I use a Co-Op Network?

In my honest opinion, I strongly suggest using these. Its a good, effortless way to gather backlinks and traffic just by randomly displaying a few text ads anywhere on your site. All you have to do is put the code on your website and watch the backlinks roll in.

Good Examples?
Well I don’t know many good examples of Co-Op Networks, but one that I strongly suggest is the Co-Op Network created by Digital Point, which is well known for its big webmastering forum. The link to this is here. You can create an account quickly, and use it on as many websites as you like. Its very popular too.

Please comment back, I’d love to hear your opinions on this, and maybe some Co-Op Networks that you use for your website.
